Fernando Velázquez is a Puerto Rico-based attorney and certified public accountant with over 15 years of experience in tax law and public accounting. Fernando has extensive experience in tax advisory and compliance  for multinational corporations and high net worth individuals in Puerto Rico, the United States and abroad. His practice includes the procurement and negotiation of tax exemption decrees, tax-exempt structuring operations in Puerto Rico, business registrations, strategic tax planning, and counsel for United States federal international income taxes matters. In addition, he has advised on various aspects of the US Tax Reform Act (TCJA) and the Puerto Rico Internal Revenue Code.

In the past years, he has served as advisory counsel for many investors and businesses seeking tax exemption grants under Puerto Rico’s Act 60 (Previously Acts 20 and 22). Fernando has also worked extensively with issues related to the taxation and compliance of cryptocurrencies.

Jose is an accountant with over twenty two years of experience in public accounting firms including “Big Four” and International Tax consulting firms.

Jose has experience with manufacturing, retail, services and real estate industries.  Jose possess extensive tax compliance experience.  He has experience in the areas of individuals as well as different corporate vehicles (Corporations, Limited Liabilities Companies and Partnerships).  As a tax consultant he has been involve in the interplay of tax incentives for Puerto Rico and US  clients for Act 73-2008, Act 20-2012, Act 22-2012, Act 60-2019 and Act 14-2017 in order to help clients to design the most effective tax planning. He help and represent clients with the procurement process of tax grants at the Puerto Rico Industrial Development Company.

Jose also, has assist clients before the Puerto Rico Treasury Departments to obtain rulings, closing agreements as well as lead the Investigation Process.
